Finally, after almost 4,000 km and visiting eight (or nine if you count our trip to Pennsylvania) states, we arrive at the KFFA – The First Flight Airport in Kelly Devil Hills in North Carolina.
The airport itself is famous for being the site of hundreds of pre-flight gliding experiments carried out by the Wright brothers. The Wright Brothers National Memorial, located atop nearby Kill Devil Hill, is a 60-foot granite pylon paying homage to the Wright Brothers and the first sustained heavier-than-air flight.
Its really amazing that the four of us have crossed the whole country, from California to North Carolina, on the footsteps of the aviation pioneers, the Wright Bros. This was an extra-ordinary trip with so many impressions, sights and history. – Not to forget all the laughs and happy moods. You are really wonderful! Thank you so much to have me brought on this journey through aviation history, Denise, Dana and Cheri.
Then Jessica Cox joins us as promised. I am very much looking forward to this new adventure with her, but I am also a bit sad to leave you three. – In this very moment when I am not too sure what to say anymore, Denise took me in her arms and tells me not to worry. We’ll see each other soon, promise!
I can smile again. And then I am with Jessica for the return trip….
